sold by the Perth City Council to help fund the Park Recreation Centre and
was demolished in 1983. Frank the barber had a shop next to the entrance of the hall and paid about $27 per week for about twenty years. Frank is still cutting hair today.</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://johnbissett.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/building-the-tram-tracks.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Tram Tracks</image:title><image:caption>Laying the tram tracks along Albany Road Victoria Park, WA (1907)</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://johnbissett.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/lathlain-park002.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Lathlain Oval Site</image:title><image:caption>The future Perth football oval (1960) in the suburb of Rivervale now known as Lathlain. This location was known as “Two Mile Well” as it was two miles from the General Post office located on the corner of St Georges Terrace and Barrack St. (The measuring point is on the corner of Cathedral Avenue and St Georges Terrace.)
The image is looking north down Albany Road. If you look closely you will see that the photographer had company on this day in 1889. A young man is leaning on the telegraph pole and to the youth’s left a large dog is laying down.
You can also just see that next to the tree on the right which appears to have been either struck by lightning or burnt, a person is sitting to the left of the tree.
The photograph appears to have been taken on a bright sunny day at around about 9 or 10 o’clock in the morning.</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://johnbissett.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/victoria-park-hotel-c1910.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Victoria Park Hotel (c1910)</image:title></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://johnbissett.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/victoria-park-hotel-c1939.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Victoria Park Hotel (c1939)</image:title></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://johnbissett.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/broadway-picture-theatre.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Broadway picture theatre</image:title></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://johnbissett.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/munitions-factory-2.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Munitions factory 2</image:title></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://johnbissett.blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/munitions-factory.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Munitions Factory</image:title><image:caption>The tram line was extended from Patricia St in East Victoria Park WA during the second world war to cater for the increase in activity in amongst the factories along Welshpool Road.
